On Thursday, January 25, 2007, YTAC hosted its fifth annual donation ceremony at the home of YTAC founding member, Ryan Gordon. The ceremony was designed to "unveil" the year's charitable organization recipient to YTAC members and donors. This event is also a way for YTAC to show our appreciation to all of our donors and annual, lifetime and founding members, and to thank them for their participation and generosity.

This year, for the second time since YTAC's inception, a single charitable organization was chosen by the members of the Charity Selection Committee to receive YTAC's entire donation. The Charity Selection Committee members chose to research several small and mid-sized local cancer-related charities. They made contacts with the various organizations and collected information about the organizations.  Each organization considered filled out a grant request.  Once the grants had been collected, the Committee was presented the information about the respective charities and then voted on the recipient of this year's donation. From the Committee vote came YTAC's largest annual donation recipient to date – HIS GRACE FOUNDATION was this year's recipient of a $27,500 donation from YTAC.

By contributing our entire allocable donation to only one charitable recipient, YTAC is able to make a significant impact in the lives of children and families that receive services from the His Grace Foundation. YTAC is pleased to support His Grace Foundation in their mission of “providing physical, emotional and financial support to the patients and families in the bone marrow transplant unit at Texas Children’s Hospital”. His Grace Foundation was established in 1997 by a family after witnessing the struggle of a family member with cancer.  YTAC’s funds will be used to continue program services of paying family parking fees, occupational and physical therapy items, family meals, family in need items such as funeral costs, therapy equipment, clothing, utilities and personal care items.  On behalf of YTAC and myself, I must sincerely thank all of the Charity Selection Committee members who have donated their time, knowledge and finances to assist in bettering the lives of Texas families that are affected by cancer.  I would also like to extend an additional sincere thanks to all of YTAC’s members and donors for their contributions in making our annual $27,500 donation possible. And finally, thank you to founding member, Ryan Gordon, for opening his home to us for this wonderful event.

HGF wishes to extend a very gracious THANK YOU to  YTAC for their most generous gift benefiting  the children of the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at Texas Children’s Hospital.

The Young Texans Against Cancer (YTAC) organization was established in 2001 by a group of 44 young individuals from the Houston area with something in common: Cancer.

Some of them were personally afflicted and others watched as their loved ones battled courageously to survive this most insidious disease, some successfully and others not so fortunate. But like all whose lives are touched by such a huge challenge they were inspired to band together and do something good for this unfortunate community, thus

forming YTAC.

Through its volunteer work and charity donations they target various small and medium-sized cancer-related charities seeking to make a difference, and they most certainly have!

HGF is proud to be associated with  YTAC and honored to be its recipient for 2006.

A heartfelt thank you from all of us here at HGF!
